Safe Routes to School
This three hour course is designed for 4th and 5th grade students with the objective of creating a cohort of safe and empowered student cyclists. We bring our fleet of bikes, helmets, and set up a safety course on your blacktop that mimics real-life traffic scenarios for students to navigate. Our instruction includes a 'Chalk Talk' where we learn the rules of the road, basic bike maintenance, and how a bike works. We also provide instruction for first time riders, as well as accommodate for students with special needs. This fun and educational program meets state PE mandates, and is a perfect compliment to your PE program.
Bike Rodeos
Bike Rodeos are for everyone from PTA groups to summer camps! These fun 3 hour events are typically held on weekends or after school hours, and are open to the community at large. We bring all we need to set up a fun bike-safety course, our fleet of bikes for those who don't have one, and a mechanic's station for simple bike repairs. We set-up, manage, and take down the course for you. We also can help arrange a helmet give-away through SLO Public Health or the California Highway Patrol. All ages and levels welcome!
Safe Cycling
This course contains basic, intermediate and advanced building blocks to meet the needs of any rider from beginner to experienced. The Smart Cycling curriculum is designed to develop the confidence and competence of a bicycle rider. Students will learn about choosing a bicycle, basic parts of a bike, essential equipment, as well as how to safely and comfortably ride your bike in various traffic conditions, terrain and climates. Classes are offered seasonally.
